Earl Carter Lumber was founded in 1948 by Earl Carter & his wife Florence.  They started the company with the basis that working professionals need to have a partner in the business that can understand their needs.  Professionals didn’t need to go to a big box store and spend 15 minutes tracking down a sales associate to help them.  Also, homeowners needed a resource where they could trust the advice given to them.  Time is money, and Earl Carter Lumber was started with the premise that it shouldn’t be such a task just to get building supplies.

The first building was located at 1900 “R” Street.  This was the operations headquarters for the first 60 years of business.  In 1993, Earl Carter Lumber was purchased by Gerald (Gary) Blattert and his son Dean Blattert, both lifetime employees of their era with the firm.  Gary and Dean, along with help and driving force from their new partners Derek Blaser and Matthew Vincent, then expanded the operations and service when it moved to its current location of 1235 W ‘O’ Street in 2008.  This new building and warehouse allows Earl Carter Lumber to keep the majority of products in stock, which means if you need something you can get it today.  If it’s a product they don’t have, they will get it for you in the most adequate time possible.  This has allowed the company to become Lincoln’s premier store and construction supply partner for both local construction professionals and retail customers.
